Rosie Mae Edwards was born on November 3, 1950 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late J.B. Edwards Sr. and Lizzie Edwards. She was one of five siblings, two of whom – James and Henry Mitchell – preceded her in death. She confessed her love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Springhill M.B. Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi by Reverend James Miller. Rosie graduated from Rosa A. Temple in 1968 and soon after moved to St. Louis, Missouri to live with her big sister and start a new chapter in life. She was blessed with two children whom she loved with all her heart. Her
caring nature and passion for helping others led her to a career in public service where she worked as a Lead Dispatcher in the Communications Department for St. Louis City Police Department for 18 years. She also dispatched for St. Louis County ensuring that officers and the community received the support they needed. Rosie was a people person in every sense of the word. She was transparent and authentic with her actions. She leaves behind her cherished children, Marnice Quartey (Philip), Kenneth Edwards (Kim), and Akeia Mathis; her devoted sister Ronetta Miller; her loving brother J.B. Edwards Jr. (Erma); her beloved grand-daughters, Larissa Davis and Naia Edwards; one great granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
