Lorna Nichols Obituary

Lorna Ruth Daniels Nichols, 72, of Chesterfield, MO, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. Born on August 11, 1953, in St. Louis, MO to George E. Daniels Jr. and Ruth Meadows Daniels. Lorna lived a life marked by dedication to her faith, family, and community. She professed faith in Jesus Christ at a young age through membership at Community Mission Church of God in Christ of East St. Louis, IL. Continuing her commitment to the Lord, she took on the role of Director of Christian Education for Victory Family Church.

A proud graduate of East St. Louis Senior High School in 1970, Lorna pursued higher education at Washington University in St. Louis, earning a B.S. degree in Political Science by the age of 19. Later, she served as president of the Black Alumni Association. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career at SBC/AT&T where she held various leadership roles including Director of Quality Management. Throughout her professional journey, Lorna was known for her commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire those around her.

Lorna’s vibrant personality and broad smile left an unforgettable impression on everyone she encountered. She had a unique gift for fostering relationships and making others feel valued and included. Lorna was the author and founder of Big Picture Ministries. She wrote Old Testament and New Testament study guides for understanding the Bible. Lorna volunteered at the Children’s Activity Center in East St. Louis, the O.A.S.I.S. Food Pantry in St. Louis, at Saving Every Nation Together (SENT) where she served as an Officer of the board, and performed missions in South Africa, India, and Uganda. Lorna’s work is a reflection of her deep commitment to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In addition to her professional and spiritual pursuits, Lorna found joy in nurturing house plants and indulging in her love for "Star Trek.” As was her mother, she was an
exceptional cook and found joy preparing meals for her husband, John. Their devotion was evident as they shared the love of binge-watching TV, traveling, and building
Christian Ministry. Her life reflected her multifaceted personality—a blend of love for people, being a role model/mentor for others, and hosting gatherings for family and
friends.

Lorna is survived by her devoted husband, John W. Nichols III; her siblings: George E. Daniels III (Cathy) of Creve Coeur, MO; Rhonda Daniels of Champaign, IL; Rita Daniels of Loganville, GA; Dr. William Daniels (Vivian) of Loganville, GA; Terry Daniels (Marnice) of Goodyear, AZ; and Candace Daniels Godbolt (Adrian) of Urbana, IL; step son John W. Nichols, Jr. (Jackie) of Pompano Beach, FL, and her beloved God-daughter Shandrè Harasty (Gavin) of Suffolk, VA. She also leaves behind cherished nieces Ayanna, Jordan, Jada, Taylor, Danielle, Tierra; nephews Curtis, William II(Sydney), John, Christopher, Shaquille, Isiah "Zeke"; great-niece Aviara; and a host of
grand children, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss her presence. She was preceded in death by her parents George E. Daniels Jr. and Ruth Meadows Daniels.
