Augustine Blake Mason was born on January 14, 1951 in Tunica, Mississippi, to the late Wilbur and Ivory Blake. She was the youngest of five daughters whom preceded her in death, Earmie McKinney (Armie), Ether Curtis (Sugarpie), Bernice Blake (Cat) and Rosetta Blake (Rose).
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age with membership at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Augustine was a very proud student of the Saint Louis Public Schools, attending: Carr Lane Elementary and Vashon High School. Upon completing her high school education, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary and Secondary Education from Lincoln University (HBCU) in Jefferson City, Missouri and a Masters of Arts Degree in Education from Harris Stowe State University (HBCU) in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Augustine was united in Holy Matrimony on May 15, 1976 to Wayne Allen Mason. To this union one son was born, Corey Mason, Sr.
Augustine had a love of life-long learning and was a passionate educator in the Saint Louis Public School Systems. She devoted her career as a Social Studies, Health and Physical Education teacher for thirty-six years. retiring in 2010. While there, she received the Teacher of Excellence Award to honor her excellent skills in the area of education. Her hobbies included writing short notes to family and friends, sending tokens of appreciation in the mail, spending time with family, attending blues festivals, enjoying nights at the movies, shopping and talking on the phone. She also contributed to many charitable organizations.
Augustine will be forever remembered as a kind, warm, generous, sincere and loving person.
