Andrew Hicks was born on December 8, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Samuel and Linda Hicks. His mission on this earth was complete, and he was welcomed home with the words,
“Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” Andrew was preceded in death by his daughter and nephew; his paternal grandparents, Samuel and Ida Mae Hicks; and his maternal
grandparents, Willie and Zeola Torrence. Andrew graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in 1987, where he participated in various sports and activities. In June 1987, he joined the United States Navy, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer Damage Controlman (DCC(SW)). His first duty station was the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, Maryland. His follow-on tours included USS L.Y. Spear (AS-36), USS Gonzalez (DDG-66), and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), where he retired in April 2008 after serving 21 years of honorable service.

He carried that same strength, dedication, and quiet pride into every chapter of his life. A self- taught computer technical expert, Andrew earned several certifications that led to his role as a Project Support Engineer and a career spanning over 16 years of federal government service. Outside of his professional life, Andrew found joy in the things he loved most, capturing moments through photography and spending time outdoors walking, bicycling, riding his motorcycle, and attending events. One of his greatest accomplishments was teaching himself photography and established Drew Hicks Photography. He became the go-to person for photography and mentored several individuals who went on to start their own businesses. Andrew had a passion for learning and
sharing knowledge—whether it was lawn care, health, exercise, tech support, or offering guidance to coworkers. He enjoyed supporting others to achieve their life and careers goals.
Andrew even taught himself how to replace the engine in a 1997 Nissan Maxima—there was little he could not do once he puts his mind to it.
Andrew had a heart for people. He was incredibly generous and caring, the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He brought laughter wherever
he went and was known for his sense of humor and his unforgettable and (often corny) jokes or sending late night TikTok videos that could make anyone smile.
Andrew was a loving brother who cherished his competitive bond with his Big Sis. Whether it was professional achievements, finances (who could reach $1M first), or exercise. He never
passed up a challenge, especially when it came to seeing who could walk or run the most miles in a day.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Jeanette Marie Hicks; her children, Ashlee Chappelle and Vernon Chappelle Jr.; and granddaughter, Sienna Chappelle. He also leaves behind his
children, Marinda Rosetta Hicks, Andrew Hicks Jr., and William Jamar Whitaker; his parents, Samuel and Linda Hicks; twin sister, Andrea Hicks (Darryl Harris); brother, Sean E. Hicks;
nieces, Dara Z. Harris and Danyale Harris; nephews, Darrian S. S. Harris and DJ Harris; lifelong friend, Robert Porter; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended
family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Andrew’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in all who knew him.
